What a Surprise

When we were in Ouray a few weeks ago we went to the local museum. it is housed in the old hospital. It is very well done. i was impress for a couple of reasons. First they had a few photos of my grandfather's old steam engine and the made me a cd of the photos. Second they were having a quilt show. How lucky can I be? Well...I was looking at the quilts and found a friendship quilt with a signature "Mrs. Croonenberghs." I was hoping it was my grandmother, but as it turns our it was her sister-in-law, Stella. The quilt was made in the twenties. Here are the photos. I still was excited.

Corkscrew

Imogene

This was the second half of the day. Not near as bad as the first. Imogene Pass (el. 3997 m./13,114 ft.) is a high mountain pass in the San Juan Mountains in the southwest part of the US state of Colorado.
It crosses a ridge connecting Ouray, Colorado with Telluride, Colorado, and is the highest mountain pass in the San Juan Mountains, and the second highest vehicular mountain crossing in Colorado. southwest of Ouray, and climbs through Imogene Basin to the summit.

Family Reunion

I have the most fabulous family. The day began as a memorial for my uncle and ended at my cousins ranch. So many cousins. One I had not seen in about 50 years. I am going to try again to upload pics, but this wifi is so slow it might not work.

Most are cowboys and ranchers. It was out under the trees. Lots of great food and homemade ice cream.

No luck. I will post some super photos when I get home.

My Great Grandmother

In 1886 my great grandmother died on the family homestead near Ridgway, Colorado. Five years ago Jeff and i placed a marker on the grave. the property is now owned by Ralph Loren. We had permision to visit the gravwe. We pulled some weeds. it is still beautiful.
