Jeff went fishing this morning. I went to the Anasazi Heritage Center. It was great and now when guests come I have another place for adventure. Southwest Colorado is a wonderful place to check out if you are interested ancient civilizations. Below is McFee Reservoir. The heritage center is just above. It is about a half mile walk to the ruins.

Yesterday was not quite so relaxing......
Thistle is the common name of a group of flowering plants characterised by leaves with sharp prickles on the margins. According to a legend, an invading Norse army was attempting to sneak up at night upon a Scottish army's encampment. During this operation one barefoot Norseman had the misfortune to step upon a thistle, causing him to cry out in pain, thus alerting Scots to the presence of the Norse invaders. Well if they had been coming through our property we certainly would have heard their painful cries. Yes, the flowers are beautiful and I understand why they are the flower of Scotland but boy are they a pest. Check out the pile Jeff and I pulled yesterday. My bowling friend Detta is probably rolling in her grave. Sorry Detta.

Jeff just loves the hummingbirds. We have one very mean one that chases all the others off.

Working and Playing

Jeff has been working hard. First he built a horseshoe pit and then steps down to the river. I have been making curtains. Curtains are linen with valance from an old tablecloth of my mother. Today is Jeff's birthday and we will be going to the Argentine Grill in Rico.

We have had friends here for a few days. Fun Jeep rides, great food and fourth of July in Rico, Colorado. Rico is a little town not far from us. there was a parade and Navajo tacos. That night we saw the LONGEST fireworks show I have ever seen.
